Background
FIM, a Finnish private bank offering wealth management services, moved into new premises on Mikonkatu in the very heart of Helsinki in 2019.
As well as prestigious client areas, the new premises were designed to include highly functional workspaces, which were realised as a multi-space office. The versatile spaces in the old building lent themselves well to this requirement.
Challenge
FIM’s new multi-purpose office required solutions that would enhance comfort at work and provide quiet spaces for tasks requiring privacy and concentration.
In an open-plan office environment, there was a need for spaces where staff could make private phone calls without disturbing those around them. In addition, the aim was to create a quiet space for work and meetings, for example for video conferences and one-to-one meetings.
The solutions had to be in keeping with the architecture of the old building and with the office’s dark, rich colour scheme, which is typical of that era.
Solution
The following were brought into the new multi-purpose office: POD rooms to enhance comfort at work and provide a sense of calm in various situations throughout the working day.
POD PHONE phone booths They provide excellent acoustic protection from disruptive noise and allow you to make private calls without disturbing those around you. The telephone booths have only one glass wall, which provides the user with a sheltered and peaceful space.
As well as the telephone booths, the following were brought into the office POD 2 – soundproofed workspace and meeting room. It is well suited, for example, to video conferences and one-to-one meetings, as well as to individual and team work.
Minimalist and understated, the POD rooms – with their dark grey exterior surfaces – blend in well with the building’s architecture and the office’s dark colour scheme. The interior surfaces of the POD rooms also feature dark grey acoustic textile carpets, which reinforce the cohesive look of the whole.
The POD rooms were positioned so that they are close to the workstation areas and corridors. This makes it easy to pop in during the working day.
Results from
INTO the Nordic Silence family of products The POD rooms brought greater quiet, comfort and privacy to FIM’s new multi-space office.
POD PHONE telephone booths provide a quiet place to make calls, and the POD 2 room serves as both a workspace and a meeting room, for example for video conferences and one-to-one meetings.
The layout of the POD rooms has also succeeded in creating visual barriers in the corridor areas. This reduces visual distractions in the multi-space office and promotes a calm environment conducive to concentration.
The dark grey POD rooms blend seamlessly with the architecture of the old building and the office’s rich colour scheme, meaning that the solution supports both the functionality of the spaces and the overall visual harmony.
