Background

Pilke is a private nursery that provides early years education at over 180 nurseries across Finland. At the Pilke nursery in Turku, the aim was to organise the space so that the dining and play areas were more clearly separated from one another.

Challenge

Everyday life at the nursery is bustling and noisy, so a solution was needed for the open-plan space that would separate the dining and play areas from one another and help create a more pleasant acoustic environment.

The solution had to be suitable for a nursery setting, remain securely in place and be easy to move if necessary. Furthermore, it was intended to serve a variety of everyday purposes, not merely as a space divider but also as part of the children’s creative environment.

Solution

INTO Concept was selected for the Pilke nursery in Turku STORY WALL -partition walls to separate the dining and play areas. STORY WALL serves as a versatile solution in nursery settings, organising the space whilst providing acoustic benefits amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

STORY WALL serves not only as a room divider but also as a platform for displaying children’s artwork. It is easy to pin papers and posters to its felt surface. In addition, a wide range of additional parts, such as whiteboard, TV-stand or even dartboard.

Results from

The STORY WALL room dividers created a more pleasant acoustic environment in the play area at the Pilke nursery and helped to separate the dining area from the play area. The solution supports the day-to-day running of the nursery both practically and visually.
